Beta Pledge
I do solemnly declare that I shall always strive to hold fast to the principles of honesty to endeavor constantly to maintain a creditable record; to cultivate in my life and conduct the principles of morality, service, and leadership. I further pledge myself to cooperate with the members of the National Beta Club in the promotion of a sense of individual responsibility to our school, community, state and nation to make right the master of might; and to consecrate our comradeship to mutual helpfulness and to the betterment of our fellow students.
Beta Club Requirements
HHS Beta Club has been in existence for over 25 years. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who maintain a 88, or above, average in all classes for a full year, and are enrolled in an advanced math and science class are eligible for membership. Students must maintain a B average in each grading period to continue their membership. A "C" in any class puts a student on probation: 2 "C's" in any grading period or 2 consecutive "C's" in any class terminate the student's membership.
An additional component of Beta membership is the performance of 6 hours, per semester, of community service. Betas are required to work in various causes for the good of the community as a whole. Many students choose to do their service with Habitat for Humanity, the Carl Perkins Center for Child Abuse, Relay for Life, and other projects.
HHS students participate in the Tennessee State Beta Convention each spring. Students compete in academic and talent contests, as well as run for state offices.
