ACE
Some ACE activities this year include:
Grades 3 - 6 field trip to the Dixie (October 25 for 3rd/4th) (January 24 for 5th/6th) Students will have a class on vocal presentations, see an event, have lunch at Mallards and have a critical and creative thinking class. In addition, the group who is performing that day will do a one hour class with students.
Students will be involved with an independent learning project of their choice. Three presentations will be required: a poster presentation, a verbal presentation (speech) with a visual, and a game (or other type of presentation).
Grades 7 - 8-Field trip to the state capital on October 11 where the Lt. Gov. met with them in the Senate chamber to discuss how bills become a law. They toured the Capital and did a chemistry lab and had free time at the Adventure Science Museum to round out the day. They did a unit on trials and then did a mock trial at the Carroll County Courthouse on November 8 at 6:30 p.m.
Some students participated in Future Problem Solving which involved extra pullouts. State bowl is April 18 and 19 for qualifying teams.
Most of the students did the Geography Bee in late November. Grades 5 - 8 will have the Science Night at Bethel in February in the evening.
